October's Challenges

These are my current entries for the challenges over at The Boxx. The first one is the fortnightly challenge - pink & black with the words "she is..."   Not usually a fan of using a lot of pink, but I do love it with black, so this was a bit of fun.
The next page is the October sketch challenge. Thought I would try & get out of my comfort zone again with this one & tried to mess it up a little, but I don't do "messy" very well - they tend to turn out neat anyway for some reason.
Thanks for visiting :)

With Love card

As promised, here is a pic of a card I've made with the new Stampin' Up! Pool Party & Calypso Coral colours with a little bit of the First Edition paper (which I lifted from another Demonstrator, the very talented Kerry Bunting). I've also used the new Field Flowers stamp set. I really love this ruffled ribbon. This first card though is one I've made using the Delicate Doillies stamp set. I just love these feminine colours. Stampin' Up! new In Colours

I wasn't intending on posting again today, BUT my Stampin' Up! order just arrived and I just had to share. I ordered in the new In Colour cardstock. Looking at it in the catty, I wasn't all that impressed until I saw what the other Demonstrators were doing with it. So I took the plunge & ordered my own stash and OMG! the colours are so brilliant IRL and the ruffled ribbon I ordered in "Pool Party" is the prettiest, softest blue/aqua whatever colour I've seen in a long while. Just had to take a pic of the Island Indigo & Pool Party together because they are so lovely alongside each other. Can't wait to start creating with these!  If you have the new Catty, have another look at these colours and if you don't have a new Catty, just holler & I'll get it in for you. Hopefully, I'll post a creation or two using these colours soon.
Unfortunately the photo doesn't do the colours justice. The cardstock below the Island Indigo is the same colour as the ribbon (Pool Party) but you wouldn't know looking at this pic. But if you would like to have a touchy feely & a good look just let me know.

Masters Challenge

A few months ago I thought I'd bite the bullet and enter the Scrapbooking Memories Masters. I was aware that I didn't have a hope in hell of being accepted, given the fact that I still haven't been published (not from lack of trying), but I really liked the challenges they had set and I had a lot of fun doing them. The most challenging of them all for me was the sketch challenge with multiple photos. So here they are :
This is the "large photo" challenge.
This is the "colour combo" double layout challenge:

The next few pics are the "hidden journalling/memorabilia" challenge:

And the very challenging sketch challenge with multiple photos....eeek!
As you can see there was a fairly wide variety of challenges this year and I learnt something new from tackling each one, which is what this journey is all about of course. Thanks for visiting xx

Stamping time!

Once upon a time I really wasn't interested in stamping or inks. That is until I contracted the Stampin' Up! bug. I was a tad ignorant of the many ways a stamp can be used and once I realised that I could use them in my scrapbooking.....well the rest is history. I love making cards for family & friends but I love even more using the beautiful products and project ideas that I have access to as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator in my scrapbooking pages. You will see that there is always some type of stamping, the use of punches and inking on my pages - in fact I'm an "ink freak". Nearly everything I use on my projects has to be inked or they just don't look right. Anyway, we've had a few birthdays recently so I thought I would share a card I made last week and also a wedding card that I made as well (all made with Stampin' Up! products of course). Embossing is also a fave of mine at the mo (see the embossed background stamp on the birthday card - just gotta love the tool shed stamp) I love the "touchy-feely" aspect of embossing. I hope you like them.

I've been very creative today

I wanted to get all my challenge entries up to date as some of the deadlines are looming. Here is my entry in the fortnightly challenge over at http://thescrapboxx.com.au  The challenge was to do a layout involving food. I couldn't resist drooling over my photo of the delicious apple strudel that we had while in Prague. The photo doesn't do it justice because it was the biggest slice of strudel I've ever had & it was just what we needed to keep our strength up for the next leg of our walking tour. The view from the cafe' in the Castle district of Prague overlooked the city. We could have sat there for hours just sipping tea, soaking up the sun & staring off into the distance. Maybe this is why I was charged excess baggage on the flight home?!!

My latest challenges

This is my entry in the October challenge over at http://scrapthatsong.blogspot.com/   I've chosen the song "Beautiful People" by Chris Brown as the inspiration for this page.
We met so many terrific people while on our o/s holiday earlier this year, but these particular people made our trip so much more than what we expected. They are fun-loving, adventurous, caring & always ready for a laugh. We spent many evenings over a glass or two discussing each day's adventure & what our plans for the following days were.  I'm not sure that our friendship extends to plastering their faces all over the internet, hence their blank expressions....he he.  But they are truly beautiful people.

Welcome to my little creative world

I've finally bitten the bullet and started a blog (although it's still a work in progress), not because I think anyone is interested in anything that I have to say about anything, but to make it easier for me to be a more active member of this wonderful paper crafting world that I have found myself in. If, as a happy consequence, you find yourself making a return visit to this blog, I hope that it is because I've inspired you in some way, or that I have made you more curious about this creative journey that I'm on. If you are reading this, then I already know that you are curious, so thank you for dropping by and I hope you keep enjoying the journey with me.
