Feeling like a girly page....

It's been a while since I did a really feminine, girly page and I've had this paper from Kaisercraft sitting in my stash for a little while. So today I pulled it out & forced myself to decide on a photo to put with it. DH took this photo of me on our visit to Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris & even though it's not very sharp, I thought it looked quite ethreal. I de-saturated it to suit the paper.
I lit two candles for my offspring whom I was missing a little bit at the time, & even though it was crowded with tourists, I was able to have my little bit of contemplation on my own for just a few minutes.
I've also had the hydrangea petals for quite a few years now so I was glad to be able use them up. I placed some little pearl stamens in them to match the pearl flourishes. So all in all I was happy with how it ended up & I feel a bit better for getting in touch with my feminine side today :)

I also found some pretty soft pink velvet ric rac so it's a bit of a "touchy feely" page too. And whats a girly page without butterflies & an Angel?

Thanks for dropping by & I hope you enjoyed your Sunday :)

Stuck?! April 15 Challenge

Good morning! This is a page I've been fiddling with during the week for the current challenge over at http://stucksketches.blogspot.com.au/
Our DS has temporarily started working at the same place as his Father (on a casual basis) while he awaits the next chapter in his life, which is only a few months away. Anyway, hubbie's esky has been with him throughout his 34 year working life - and it shows. This esky has been run over, beaten back into shape, run over again, beaten back into shape again, the lid has been lost to be replaced by another (second hand) lid, it has been to every corner of this large shire of ours. Oh the stories it could tell!  So I couldn't resist taking a pic of the old next to the new, as if it was passing on all it's wisdom.
So I've grunged the pics up a bit and added some texture paste for the brick work. I also thought the King of Spades was a "tongue-in-cheek" touch. Here is the sketch.

A little bit of whimsy -

Such a dark, gloomy, wet day here. Can't get any washing dry, had a half-hearted attempt at vacuuming so thought I would cheer myself up by spending some time at my creation station. I have so many off-the-page projects waiting to be done, so I thought I would make a start. This is a cheap timber frame I bought a while ago.  I've painted the edges & covered it with Stampin' Up! Newsprint pp then painted on some Modge Podge to protect it. I then embossed the background c/s, cut the flowers, butterfly & leaves with the Big Shot & made my own "Paris" button and a added Stampin' Up! button. I sprayed the flower & leaves with a bit of dazzling diamonds glimmer mist as well. Hope you like my little bit of whimsy for today.

Thanks for visiting.

Kraft it up! April Challenge

Yes, another day another challenge. The months just role around so quickly. Kraft it up! is one of my fave challenge sites (besides White with 1), because I love using Kraft. It's so versatile & almost anything goes with it. And of course I'm addicted to the colour aqua right now so thought I would combine the two. This month's criteria at KIU! is Kraft cardstock or pp as a base and 3 other kraft items. I couldn't resist using my Crafter's Workshop tree stencil with some lovely aqua glimmer mist. My three kraft items are the doily/clock, the corrugated arrow & my handmade flower made from kraft wrapping paper.

I've had the little doilies from Kaisercraft in my stash for a while now, so I was glad to finally find a page to use them on. The butterfly brad is from Stampin' Up! And of course my sweet girl always provides a great photo for me to scrap. Another pic from our recent Easter bush walk & picnic.

Thanks for dropping by again :)

WW1 April Challenge

Happy Friday, and another eventful week comes to an end. My family ticked a few more boxes this week & added a few more to the list unfortunately. But things are steadily progressing towards bigger & better things (which I hope to be able to share with you in the near future). It's hard to believe that it's been a year today since we jetted off to Europe & I still haven't finished scrapping our holiday pics. I don't know why I am so surprised by that because considering the amount of photos that I took I already know that I won't get to scrap them all. Also one of the reasons for this is that I tend to get side-tracked by other photos in my stash & all the wonderful challenges on the www that are way too much fun not to have a go at them.
So this month's challenge over at White With 1 is White + Grey + Tabs/Tags.  I took this pic of my DS a few weeks ago. He thought that I was taking a photo of his dog, which he was holding, but I zoomed in a bit closer & managed to get this lovely photo - very rare I must say. I'm in love with this woodgrain pp from My Mind's Eye. It lends itself to so many options, male or female.

And a closie of the quote:

I also used The Crafter's Workshop template - Mini Tile, with some texture paste on this page, but it hasn't come out as clear as I wanted it to in this photo :(   looks better IRL.   I've also used a few of my Stampin' Up! punches, pp, stamps & baker's twine.  I hope you like it.  TFLxx

Stuff2Scrap

Just finished off a page I had started last weekend. I got this fantastic chipboard frame from Stuff2Scrap because I thought it would be great to use with multiple photos. It was a bit fiddly getting the pics, papers & other bits to fit into the frames but I was pleased with how it came up. I used crackle paint on the frame & tissue paper in the background, which I stamped & misted myself.

Boxx of Scraps & Bird is the Word challenge

The challenge over at Bird is the Word http://birdisthewordchallenge.blogspot.com.au/ this month is the word "Future". I took a few pics on our recent hike & thought they would suit this challenge. Also as the Featured Member on The Scrapboxx this month I was asked by the lovely Jane to create a page using April's Boxx of Scraps. Here is what I came up with.

The monthly Boxx of Scraps is full of lots of lovely products, as you can see, which you can subscribe to. Pop on over to http://www.scrapboxx.com/catalog & check out some of their great kits. The owl button is from Purple Pumpkin, otherwise nearly all other products used on this page are from the Boxx of Scraps.
Thanks for dropping by.

Field Flowers

Well it's Friday again, if you can believe it. Really don't know what happened to this week.  However, I did make this card for my S-I-L who has just had an operation. I love the Stampin' Up! Seam Binding. This one is Baja Breeze. I've also used Not Quite Navy C/s & ink, Baja Breeze c/s & ink, Kraft ink & the very pretty Field Flowers stamp set as well as my all-time favourite background stamp - En Francais. I stamped the flowers twice & made them "pop" with dimensionals.

I hope you like it. Let me know what you think :)  Until next time...

Fresh Vintage & Everyday Enchantment

Hello again! My parents asked me to make a card for them to give someone as a "thank you".  I've been wanting to use the new Fresh Vintage stamp set from the recent Sale-a-bration promotion from Stampin' Up! along with the beautiful Everyday Enchantment pp. This is what I came up with. They didn't want any sentiment placed on it as they wanted to write their own message inside. I've used Lucky Limeade c/stock, Poppy Parade c/stock, Whisper white c/stock, Old Olive, Poppy Parade & Marina Mist Inks & Lucky Limeade ribbon. I stamped a couple of extra flowers, fussy cut them & "popped" them with foam dimensionals.

Thanks for looking :)

Purple Pumpkin April Sketch Challenge

Hope you are all enjoying your Easter weekend. My family & I enjoyed a lovely hike & picnic yesterday in a nearby state forest, so I'm sure you will see some pages about this later on.  In the meantime, this is my entry in the April Sketch Challenge over at Purple Pumpkin http://purplepumpkincrafts.blogspot.com.au/ I started it on Friday night during a Build-a-Page challenge that we had on the Scrap & Chat at The Scrapboxx. I had a nice time chatting to The Boxx girls while commencing this page - lots of laughs & not much scrapping :) I've used a lovely little button (heart) from Purple Pumpkin plus one of my fave colours at the moment - coral. The pps are from Stampin' Up! and I made the fan flowers myself. Leaves are from Craft Queen, lace from Tattered Inspirations & the little floral button is a gift from the lovely Janice Nicholls - thanks Janice. Here is the sketch:

Show Us Your Stuff!

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you've all got some great "outdoorsy" plans for this fantastic weekend. During the week I raided my stash so that I could jump straight into a project today without spending too much time indoors. My project is for the April 1st challenge over at Show Us Your Stuff! http://showusyourstuff.blogspot.com.au/  This is the inspiration:

Plus for something extra we could try some quilling on our project, which I did.  Yes I know, I've used pink on a masculine page and a flower, but hey........I think I've pulled it off :) Besides, if Tim wants to use pink decorations on his cake, well he deserves to have pink decorations on the page I create about him -
fair enough? And I really wanted to add some quilling so hence the flower. As you can see I've used the colours in the lovely baby booties as my inspo.

We were addicted to this season's MKR so much that we decided to have a "cook off". We all took it in turns over one weekend to cook a meal. Tim went all out and made damper from scratch (he drew the line at cooking it in hot coals in the backyard), steak with a home-made garlic sauce, his own seasoned wedges and vegies plus a cake for dessert. Now normally when my offspring decide to create in the kitchen it doesn't usually include the cleaning up (yep, my job apparently), but this particular day the kitchen was cleaned to an inch of it's life with no input from me....Bonus! So of course the moment had to be recorded :)
TFL, have a great weekend.

April Sketch Challenge

Happy April Fool's Day! And what a gorgeous day it is.
Yesterday I was unable to join my fellow scrappers (Annette, Kim, Cheryl & Mary) in Orange, so to solve the problem, we "Skyped" which was a lot of fun - thanks girls! Below is what I was working on while socialising with the girls.
The past week has seen my family being able to tick a few boxes and things are looking a lot brighter, so when the lovely Jane from http://www.theboxx.scrapboxx.com/ contacted me and asked me if I'd like to be the FEATURED MEMBER for April, of course I jumped at the chance, which was the icing on the cake for my week :)  As part of my duties I was asked to create a layout as inspiration for the April Sketch Challenge, which is set by the very talented Julie Winks http://thewinksplace.blogspot.com.au/  So pop on over to the The Scrapboxx and have a go at this month's Challenge.  This is my example:

And a closie:

I couldn't resist using the buttons from Purple Pumpkin and the chippy word is from ScrapFX. Flowers & pp from Kaisercraft, Carolee's Creations alphas, the banner is made from Stampin' Up! c/stock & pps, Maya Road clock, hessian and muslin.
Thanks for dropping by :)
