Purple Pumpkin April Challenge

Hi everyone, I think I've just scraped in by the skin of my teeth with this challenge for Purple Pumpkin.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my take on it:

I've desaturated the photo a bit to blend in with the colours that I've used. There are two buttons from Purple Pumpkin. The "script" button was black & white but I've spayed it with Glimmer Mist to match my colour scheme. The small flowers are from Green Tara and the large one is from Manor House.

It's hard to see in this pic but the large flower has touches of blue through it. I've used structure paste for the brickwork and mixed in some Glimmer Mist for colour.

Many thanks for dropping by :)xx

Another travel page....

Hello again, I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful sunny ANZAC Day. We've been for our walk around the Cenotaph and viewed the lovely wreaths that have been laid. It's so great to see so many young people turning out for the Commemorative Services still. So mostly today I've been trying to work out what I want to take with me this weekend and then packing same. I'm off to visit the girls (my fellow DT members of the the Orange Paperie & Co  ) over in Orange to have a bit of scrap therapy with them. I'm very much looking forward to a bit of girl time and MaryAnnette and Kim are always entertaining :)  It seems forever since I've seen them.
But this is what I've been working on this week. Another travel page of my DD. They have so many photos from Scotland but I chose these two because they are two very recognisable landmarks over there.

The chippies are from Imaginarium, WOW and ScrapFX wordlets. The blue timber clock is from Prima.

I journalled just a few of the highlights of their trip. An old school friend of DDs is married to a Scotsman and is living about half an hour out of Edinburgh, so they were kind enough to take my two adventurers on a road trip during their stay to show them some of the wonderful sights.

Thanks for dropping by and I'll be back with a report (& hopefully a finished project) on my visit with "The Girls" :)

Paper Players Challenge #142

Merry Monday everyone! Just popping in for a quick challenge from The Paper Players
This week it's a clean and simple card using only one layer....eeek! A card without layers! Impossible! But no so. It was actually a bit of fun trying to come up with something half decent.

Here is my take using Stampin' Up! Sincere Salutations, Field Flowers & Nature Walk stamp sets. There is a bit of two-step stamping on this and I've embossed using just my scoring tool.

Colours are from Stampin' Up! Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizzaz, Basic Grey & Summer Sun.

Thanks for looking xx

Once Upon A....Sketch April Challenge

Hidey Ho everyone, time for another challenge. This one is for Once Upon A....Sketch  I haven't entered a challenge over there for a little while but I really loved this months theme and sketch.

Theme: Best day of your life.

Sketch:

I've been lucky enough to have a few "best days" in my life, but when I received my DD's photos from their trip to Iceland and she told me what an amazing time they were having, I decided I really wanted to scrap their experiences in such a faraway land, because these really are the best days of their lives. I've had to expand the sketch to accommodate the landscape photos. Here is my interpretation:

I've had this lovely Kaiser Craft pp (Prairie Lane collection) for quite a while as well as the little penguin cameo from Tattered Inspirations & it's finally nice to have photos to match. My job was made easier by the fact that the colours in the photos matched perfectly with the pp. But what I really loved the most is the snowflakes from Scrapmatts. I used the negative from them with texture paste to place some extra snowflakes on the background, then I painted the chippy snowflakes white & sprayed them with Glimmer Mist & added some rhinestones. I thought the feathers softened the page then I added some flowers from Bo Bunny & Manor House. Here are the closies:

The texture paste snowflakes came up a treat!

So thanks for stopping by and I hope you've had a creative day too :) xx

Another "just because" layout

Hello again. I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. This is a page I completed yesterday with a photo of me on my birthday. Because it was a "big" birthday this year, we decided to go to Melbourne to celebrate and have some time away from the drudgery. On my actual birthday we dined at No. 35, a posh restaurant on the 35th floor at the Sofitel Hotel. The views were amazing and the food wasn't too bad either.

Anyway, for those of you who don't know me well, I do enjoy my happy hour on the weekends. This happy hour was in the middle of the week but because we were on hols and it was a special day, we went out a bit earlier and had cocktails. As I was creating this page I thought to myself that I'm hoping that this whole year will be filled with lots of happy hours, not just with a nice drink, but filled with lots of happiness and excitement. Hence my journalling.

I've used Prima pp and the title is from ScrapFX, Chandelier from Dusty Attic and the flourish from Imaginarium. I so love chipboard! The flowers are from Kaiser Craft and Prima. *Please note the sewing Kim Ewins - teacher extraordinaire! :)

I've also framed the photo with affirmations and a reminder to myself that I must embrace my age, because I'm a tad in denial about the whole thing. Mainly because it only seems like yesterday that I turned 21. A sad fact of life I know. So that's it for this weekend. Thanks for dropping by once again xx

Stuck?! April Challenge

Another working week is almost over and I've only managed one layout this week :(  This is the challenge over at Stuck Sketches for April:

And this is my interpretation. This is DH doing what he does best whenever he gets time, usually only on Sundays, but we were on holidays so he was able to read the paper everyday, which is a luxury for him.

I've used the lovely Bo Bunny Weekend Market & Double Dot pp, Stampin' Up! speciality pp Newsprint, Authentique & Carolee's Creations Adorn It alphas, Twiddleybitz chipboard, Prima wood buttons, hessian, Bazzill InStitches thread, Tim Holtz film strips, Structure and Texture paste, Tattered Angels glimmermist.

So as you can see there is a bit of everything on this page. Here is a couple of closies:

I covered the chippy flourishes with Structure paste & then sprayed them with Glimmer Mist. I love the texture of this paste. Ideal for a masculine page and it dries relatively quickly.

Thanks for dropping by. I'll have some sneaky peeks for you soon of a couple of projects I've been working for Nicole at Craft Queen so stay tuned. Have a great day!

Orange Paperie & Co April Challenge....

Happy fabulous Friday everyone! As promised in my last post the new April challenge over at Orange Paperie & Co is now up and running. The lovely Mary set this month's challenge so please pop on over and give it a go. The criteria for this month is to take inspiration from this pic:

And also use STAMPING AND PUNCHING - easy! Don't you just love the colours in this photo?! We also have a very talented Guest Designer - Belinda Lowe. BB is such a motivated and talented gal so spend the time to have a look at her blog. This is my take on Mary's challenge - my first as a DT member.

I was inspired by the the bright colours & newsprint in the photo and I've stamped some flourishes and embossed them in white embossing powder (inspired by the white chair), inked over them so that the embossing resisted the ink and stamped some script around them. I've also used some edge punches on the background to help with the layering.

I stamped the quote onto canvas and used the Big Shot to cut the framelit shape. The pp is from Kaiser Craft, buttons from A Piece of Cake Designs, washi tape from Craft Queen.

So go on, have a go.....you know you want to! :) We'd love to see what you come up with.
Thanks for looking & have a great weekend xx

One very excited scrapper!

Recently I was asked by the ladies over at Orange Paperie & Co to join their Design Team. Although I've been a Guest Designer for them previously as well as for various other Scrapbooking sites, this is my first actual Design Team gig. So needless to say I'm a tad excited to be part of this very talented group of ladies whom I've had the privilege to meet in person on several occasions. I'm so thankful to Kim, Annette & Mary for having me on their team. Check out Orange Paperie & Co blog at the beginning of each month and have a go at the challenges - it's so much fun!

I have also been making a few creations for Nicole at Craft Queen of late so pop over to her shop and check out all the wonderful products she has in stock and keep an eye out for her monthly ribbon club, card kits etc. Nicole really takes the guess work out of trying to match products to your creations.

Here is a little sneak peek of what I've created for Mary's April challenge. Only a few days to go before the challenge is revealed so stay tuned :)

Something to remember: the challenges at Orange Paperie & Co are not restricted to just layouts. You can create a card or an off-the-page project for any of their challenges so there is something for everyone!

Thanks for dropping by and letting me share my news with you xx
